First blog for meeeee

Sup to all….

This is my first blog on dirtrider, hope you all have a good read. I’ll will  introduce myself, My name is Blake Samson, I’m 25 years old and ride for team Ashton Diamondback. Sponsored by Fox Mojo UK, Hope tech, Animal Clothing, I wear Giro protection and of cause Ashton Diamondback bikes.

A bit of blog write up on what I’ve got on in the season.
I’ve been riding on the Animal Relentless Bike Tour for this year, so most of the comp’s that I would of do have been put aside. Which is a bit of a shame, but being a full time rider for the Bike tour has been so much fun and very busy. For the past four months of every weekend has been so busy for me.
Some of the stops have been a challenge for me, the last stop I just did was in Bournemouth for the Bournemouth Air Festival. Where the tour was set up on the beach front, where there would be around 1.2 million people watching the Air show going on. Which was great but being on the beach has it’s draw back, SAND and the WEATHER.
The bike tour has taken me every where in the UK and as well as over to Ireland where we did a week tour. Two days in London Derry and then down to an event called Sea sessions, which was EPIC.
The Bike tour has one more stop on the Animal bike tour this year and that is the big one in Poole for the Animal Wind Fest. Which is in Two weeks, this one is a big one and that’s no lie. I am so looking forward to that one.

Just a small read for my first one, but look out for my next one. I’m off to Euro Bike next week Tuesday with Martyn Ashton and Sam Pilgrim. So a long old drive a head of us.

Animal Relentless Bike Tour and Wisley King of Dirt

Sup Everyone,

Had an awesome weekend started off on Friday up early with James Big Hair headed down to Bournemouth for a day riding demo’s on the Animal Relentless Bike Tour. the weather was a bit dodgy, crazy windy but the rain held off. was a super fun day riding with my bro and Martin Ashton.

Saturday James and were up early again and off to Wisley for the final round of the King of Dirt. It had been moved from Sunday to Saturday because the weather forecast was crappy. took us 4 hours because of hectic traffic but finally made it and the trails looked so sick , I had not been there in ages and there had been a few changes to the jam line with new hips and different lines looked amazing and i could not wait to shred. Riders started turning up and the session was going off and before we new it the Open comp started all the riders were killing it the standard has most definitely got higher with tail whips and flips becoming the norm. Tom Ren and Craig Potter were the ones that stood out with such a massive bag of tricks.
Pro comp started and it was 3 runs on the jam line and 3 on the pro line. i was a little nervous as always but soon chilled out once i got my first run out the way. good to see Rob Newman shredding its been a long time since i have seen crank flip to xup. got all the runs done on the jam line then moved onto the pro line and with only the last 2 jumps being scored you had a lot of time to think about you run while getting to the last ones had some good runs best was a flip table to downside whip. Highlight of the day was seeing Sam Ren pull a front flip over the small take off to flat.
Sam took the win with me in second and Adam Williams in 3rd.
Prize giving and in the Open Tom Ren took the overall KOD with Craig Potter in 2nd and in Pro it was Daryl Brown taking 3rd overall with Clinton Johns in 2nd and Me taking the overall win was a sweet moment for me so stoked.

Amazing weekend and thanks to DMR for the support you guys are awesome.

PEACE!

First Blog entry and Dirt Wars at Southwest Extreme

Howzit everyone,

This is my first Blog and hopefully they get better but no promises.

Just got back from an epic weekend. My mate Mervyn and i headed up to Southwest Extreme in Devon for Dirt Wars. arrived there on Saturday after being stuck in traffic most of the day. we were supposed to have the comp that day but the wind was blowing a gale and we called it off till Sunday morning. had a good night with a few incidents with fire works and deodorant cans in the fire pit.

Sunday morning we had the comp first thing because of the wind. Open comp went well everyone rode well and put on a good show.
Pro comp started at 11 and the wind had started to pick up but we managed to get it done. took a while to get used to the jumps and they were a lot better than last year.
It was 5 runs 3 count, all the riders were riding well even in the wind. Got my first run down. Daryl, Nangle and Ash all did sweet runs which put the pressure back on.
the rest of my runs came together and i managed to take the win with Ryan Nangle in second and Daryl Brown in third.
Spent the rest of the day in Newquay had an amazing night out partying, swam in the sea and then headed home monday morning.

Looking forward to Wisley this weekend should be sick.

Big tricks

The best trick competition went down yesterday at Crankworx in Whistler, it was won by Gregg Watts on the first session, and Darren Berrecloth on the second (step down) session. Double whip flip & 360 lookback being the winning tricks. See the video for some major trick & bail action:

New recruits

As you may have noticed, I’ve become a bit slack at posting on this blog, but I hope you haven’t lost faith in it, as I haven’t, and now am really stoked to announce that I have 2 new bloggers on board to help me out. You may/will have heard of these 2 guys, seeing as they are 2 of the best dirt riders in the UK.

I’d like to introduce you to Blake & Ray Samson, our new RideDirt bloggers. I’m so happy these guys have come on board, and hopefully they will help make this site one of your favourite sites on the web! I can’t wait to see what they post up! Blake is riding for Diamondback Ashton, with DMR parts, and Ray is on the DMR Bikes team, and now both, of course a part of the RideDirt crew!
